I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a
two year fellowship in pediatric behavioral medicine. I work with children,
adolescents and adults to resolve a number of issues. I specialize in patients
that have medical issues as well as families where there is a medical issue. I
also specialize in sexual abuse and domestic violence. I treat patients with
post traumatic stress disorder. I also have extensive experience with anxiety
disorders and eating disorders as well as behavioral issues particularly in
adolescents.
Dr. Hillary has spent the past twenty five
years working in the Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton communities. During that
time she has given back to the community by treating many pro bono cases. In
fact, Dr. Hillary has always made a commitment to have a percent or her
caseload be seen free of charge.
Dr. Hillary also spent eight years as a
consultant at a community hospital in Boca Raton. During that time she worked
in the pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatric Emergency Ward and the
Pediatric floor. During her tenure as a consultant, Dr. Hillary took all cases
in need without regard for insurance coverage. Dr. Hillary provided follow up
care in her office after hospital treatment when needed.
Because of her work with patients with trauma,
Dr. Hillary is available to all her patients as needed on a 24 hour basis. Her
work with trauma patients includes rape, incest, and medical trauma of the
patient or a parent. She treats children as young as three for trauma,
integrating the family to maximize healing.
Dr. Hillary also has expertise in eating
disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and other less extreme forms of
anxiety disorders.
Dr. Hillary’s focus is in cognitive behavior
therapy. She utilizes tools such as biofeedback, progressive muscle relaxation,
and guided imagery to assist in the treatment of pain management, and to
provide tools to her patients to improve their functioning. In this way
depressed and anxious patients gain control over their lives to move forward
with their goals and life aspirations.
Dr. Hillary is also trained in psychological
assessment. She assesses potentially gifted children, children with learning
disabilities, and provides neuropsychological testing.
While working at Developmental Pediatrics,
where she was chief psychologist, Dr. Hillary spent several years diagnosing
children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder, Prador Willie Syndrome, Attention
Deficit Disorder, and children with Pervasive Developmental Delay, as well as
other disorders with genetic and psychiatric components. To do this, she worked
with a team of physical, occupational and speech therapists, as well as a
developmental pediatrician.
